Upscale Barn
The day began with a train ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railway. About two hundred guests boarded the train in Stockbridge, and enjoyed refreshments and a bluegrass band as they took the 45 minute scenic trip to Lenoxdale. When they arrived, they were transported in gaily decorated school buses to Stonover Farm in Lenox. The ceremony was held at the entrance to the barn, whose doors were flanked by huge potted trees. The aisles were hung with little pots of flowers in brilliant orange, blue, and green tones.
After cocktails by the duck pond, guests picked up their placecards - miniature prints of Norman Rockwell paintings, and headed to the tent on the lower lawn for a huge, colorful buffet dinner of local, seasonal fare, at long banquet tables. The guest favors were all classic antique wind-up toys, which were later used in a wind-up toy race after dinner. Dancing & dessert took place back up at the barn with a twelve piece band and a buffet of dozens of local berry pies and ice cream. After the brunch on Sunday, guests left feeling they had truly experienced a Berkshire wedding!
