Rustic Elegance

Gedney Farm provided a beautiful rustic backdrop to this very elegant and upscale wedding. Friday night we held a welcome and dessert reception for all the arriving guests, featuring 20 different cakes, cocktails, wine and cheese at Mepal Manor. The next day, 260 guests were bused in from their hotels and enjoyed lemonade in the courtyard before heading up to the grassy knoll for the afternoon ceremony. On the way up, ushers handed each of the ladies a pair of flip-flops for the walk up the hill.

After the ceremony, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served while steel drums played in the barn courtyard. As dinner was announced, guests retrieved their placecards – fastened by clothespins on a line – and found their places in the tent. The tent was attached to the barn and constructed over a garden which gave the space a lovely lush and natural ambiance. Table numbers were held upright with oversize clothespins, and floral arrangements were in a variety of colors and types of seasonal flowers. A trio on keyboard, sax and vocals performed during dinner.

Afterwards, guests were invited in to the barn for an evening of dancing and a bountiful dessert buffet. The barn was hung with paper lanterns, and hundreds of flowers and candles on cocktail tables surrounded the 10 piece band and dance floor. Guests were still dancing when the last bus departed at midnight.
